The Wave is the largest blocky formation along the Wave Trail and is the thing we are climbing. It is just like the Spurs formation with a square base and a rounded top. But the detailed place name signage provided by the BLM indicates it is slightly less than 1.0 miles tall. The height is based on a phone survey of the formation. The Wave is best seen from the south. From the parking area, start heading south through the sage and west of the buttes. There is a good trail. The most obvious trail is the trail that comes into the Wave from the south, it turns to the right and climbs up the Wave. Ignore it as it will take you past the most intriguing arch. From the parking area turn right to cross the wash that drains the Box Spring Range,.45 miles from the WP trailhead. Hike south along the wash across the sage field and then the Box Spring Range. After the Boxes you will cross another wash. The trail will turn to the right and cross the fields to a saddle. From the saddle turn right towards the crack in the Wall, if you do not see the foot trail for the Wave, stay to the left and that can take you to the Wave. If you are also unsure of the path, explore the right side of the buttes, you should see at least one trail leading to the top of the Wave. From the top of the Wave you can see the Wave Trail to the west and east and, if you are lucky, the handsome arch that sits in the Box Spring Range. Total distance from the parking area to the Wave is about.70 miles. From the Wave, the Wave Trail continues south to the Wave Platform. The Wave Platform (soon to become a Wave Arch) is about.50 miles along the Wave Trail.
Turn left away the from the Wave and hike southeast up Buckskin Gulch. The trail continues south for.75 miles before flowing into the wash that drains the White Horse Range to the right. When you see you can continue without a problem, turn left (southeast) and after 0.3 miles you will cross a wash. Follow the wash upstream for about.30 miles and the wash will drain into the Wirepass Slot Canyon. d2c66b5586
